At the heart of The Masala Affair is Chef Bulbul Mehrotra, a culinary enthusiast who believes that food is more than just sustenance – it’s a powerful way to create connections and share stories. Chef Bulbul’s journey in the culinary world began with a deep-rooted love for flavors and experimentation. She pursued her passion at Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts, Pune, earning a Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, followed by hands-on training at Hyatt Regency Delhi, where she honed her skills in diverse cuisines.
But the story of The Masala Affair started long before the official launch. Back in her school days, Chef Bulbul ran a small business called Chocofaction, selling bakery goods to her classmates and community, giving her a taste of entrepreneurship early on. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she pivoted from just serving baked goods to cooking nourishing meals for COVID-positive individuals in Delhi, seeing firsthand how food can offer not only sustenance but also comfort and care during challenging times.
This deepened her belief that food should be personal and customized to meet the needs and tastes of those who enjoy it. With this ethos in mind, The Masala Affair was born – a cloud kitchen that brings together flavors from around the world with a focus on customization.
